Offering great value for money, Trek’s Checkpoint ALR 5 Disc Gravel Bike can be used as a daily commuter or as a worthy accomplice in any off-road adventure. The 300 Series Alpha Aluminium frame has multiple mounting points for rack, bottles, mudguards and luggage so it can carry as much or as little as is needed, and with clearance for 45mm tyres, it really can go anywhere. Trek’s Stranglehold rear dropout allows the rear axle to be moved back or forwards a few millimetres in order to effectively lengthen the chainstay for customised geometry or to facilitate using the bike as a single-speed.

The GRX groupset is Shimano’s gravel-specific offering, pairing a 46/30 chainset with an 11-speed 11-34 cassette for enough gears for climbing when fully laden or blasting down a country lane. The GRX hydraulic disc brakes match the gears both in name and performance, with plenty of power to stop bike and luggage or give delicate control on sinuous singletrack.
